Faux Greening

I watch a lot of TV.  This means I see a lot of ads.  One of the things I notice is a lot of ads for new "green" products, like some disposable wipe that's biodegradable and guaranteed to kill every germ in a 2 mile radius.

Do I need to point out that kitchen cloths can go in the washer and last for years?  Really, unless you live in a John Waters movie, how many germs do you need to worry about?

I mean. part of the embracing of the green is being aware that it comes from the brown.

God, you crack me up.

Can't imagine spending on doctored-up kitchen wipes.

Oh but were supposed to. Because unless we feed our kids out a kitchen more sterile than an operating room we don't love our kids enough.

Good lord, I must truly despise my child.

There's this reporter for Action McNews here that did a big expose on kitchens in LA that led the county to come up with a letter grade that had to be displayed. Now, there were some pretty gross kitchens in the series, but a couple were just like "Egad! The cook isn't wearing a latex bodysuit!! What about germs?!?!"

My kitchen would make that reporters head explode and nobody's died yet..

I has been professionally busy with "sustainability" for the recent 1,5 years and I'm so annoyed with it (although it could be a nice issue, if done right), but it's not done right, they use it as an alibi. And of course with those wipes you kill the good bacteriae as well, which is quite a disaster for the mankind....
